Much of the ancient architecture dates back to Norman times and the stunning Knaresborough castle built during this period draws much appreciation from those that visit the town. From the grounds of the castle you are afforded an amazing view of the Knaresborough viaduct, which was completed in 1851 to carry a branch of the Leeds & Thirsk Railway.

Many of the shops, banks and other commercial properties located in the centre of the town are housed in listed buildings, giving Knaresborough a real old worldly feel. However, the fact that Knaresborough is serviced by the Leeds to Harrogate railway line means that residents can soon access a more modern environment if they so wish.
